That will come, I promise, but first things first: THE TROPICS.
Last summer, I learned how well my body responds to being massaged by the salty, fishy, rhythmic currents of Maui. I happen to be in this liminal space where I have the time and, thanks to my generous donors (so much gratitude to all of my faithful supporters!)...I also have resources to do what promises most to help my body reconnect. It is an incredible opportunity that I am thankful for each day I spend working on *me*.
So, how do I continue to optimize my process?
I looked at the data. Seriously. I went back through my video library for recovery breakthroughs to remind myself where and when all the “Quick, [insert therapist’s or friend’s name]! Grab a video of this!”-moments happened. Then, I plotted those moments against my calendar. Last summer after returning from a Pilates- and snorkeling-filled trip to Maui, I had a string of EIGHT BDY’s. Best Day Yet’s. For over two weeks at the Pilates studio, each day I showed some new ability in connecting.
In this unpredictable, educated-guess-and-check, let’s-just-try-something landscape of paralysis recovery, eight consecutive BDY’s is LEGENDARY.
I am here in Maui for some Pilates training but mostly to give myself that same daily aquatic stimulation I so benefitted from last year. Here’s a video of my first day. I can’t wait to see what connections I find...
